Day 1: Take 2...

This day 1 was a lot easier than the first day 1.  The hardboiled egg was still gross though.  Its just a texture thing.  I gave it another honest shot though.  So I'm back to plain ol scrambled eggs.  Today was a relatively easy day.  Eggs and baby orange for breakfast.  Watermelon for lunch.  Gym after work.  And steak for dinner.  I guess its easy since I've already done it before.

I started taking the Diruex again too.  Just in case there happens to be anymore water weight floating around in there.  I also got taped again today.  Down 1 more inch.  3inches to go.  The inch came off my waist, now if I could only get my stubborn hips to shed some inches.  I think if my ass got a little smaller I'd be able to wear a lot more of my clothes lol.

I actually went to the gym after work, on my own, today.  No mandatory obligations, but the obligation to myself to lose this damn weight.  I have temporarily solved my ipod problem too.  I just listen to Sprint Radio on my phone.  The Indie/Alternative Channel.  Pretty great stuff.  I didn't think it would be that great, but it actually had a good song line-up. So now I have something to escape with when I'm in the sauna.  Something to take my mind away from thinking about how friggen hot and stuffy it is in there.  Another bright side is that since everyone has pretty much already done their weigh-ins the gym is back to not being so crowded with all the people trying to shed last minute poundage.  I tried out the bike today too.  Just to see if I could do that for the PRT instead of the Elliptical.  The resistance on the elliptical is a little much for my leg right now.  I'd have to have it on like 10 or higher for the full 12 minutes in order to burn the right amount of calories.  Today I kept the resistance between 7 and 10 for the 12 minutes on the bike and only half assed it to burn 81 calories and I passed.  So bike it is then.  Lol.  I can't wait t be done with all this babying my leg crap though.  I hate the pain.  I know its going to get way worse once the cold really sets it. So not looking forward to that.

The diet continues tomorrow. Feeling pretty good about today, and about my decision to start over.  We'll see if I made any progress with the morning weigh in.  Until then....

Starting Over....

So I haven't updated in a while, now is as good a time as any.  I have hit a plateau in my weight loss. A plateau that I do not have time for.  I have about a week left to lose the last 7 pounds or 4 in to reach my weight loss goal for the navy.  I was almost done with the diet when I realized that my weight loss had all but come to a halt.  I have been very pleased with the results from this diet until now.  Week 4 just seemed like a lot of food with little to no structure like the weeks before.  I went back through the blog and saw that the bulk of my weight loss came during the first 2 weeks.  So I had to make a choice.  I have decided to break from the diet and start over.  So yesterday and today I ate normally to get my body thinking it is back to regular eating habits.  I gave it everything it was missing in the previous weeks.  Sugar, dairy, carbs, and processed foods.  I didn't totally pig out of course but I did at least reintroduce those items to my body.  So tomorrow I will start back from day one.  I am hoping that by starting fresh, it will 1) shock my body back into weight loss, especially coming off 2 days of eating normal foods, and 2) give me that last little push I need to reach my goal.

I am going to try to stay with the eggs this time though. Even though I hate them, it must be done.  I bought some pre-cooked and peeled hard boiled eggs by Eggland's Best so I'll see if maybe those taste better than the ones I cooked.  I don't know how I could ruin a hard boiled egg but I think I found a way to.  I bought another cute little watermelon and some baby oranges as well.

The real test comes with me going to the gym.  My goal is 2 times a day.  Once in the morning, and once after work.  And if I miss the morning then once before bed.  The mandatory 3 days a week PT I was going to after work has been postponed until November 1st so I will be doing all of this on my own.  I believe I can do it though.  Especially with the results I have been seeing as of late.

I was looking a t some pictures that were taken against my will a few months ago, and wow.  I already don't like pictures, but I really don't like pictures when I look like a damn prized cow.  I do plan on taking a few progress pictures in the clothes I was wearing in the chunky jen photos.  The clothes fit me way better now than they did in those pictures.  Sucks that those clothes were the only ones that fit, but really didn't fit they way they should either.  I also got into a few shirts that I wasn't able to wear a few months ago.  I have this plaid button down 1/4 sleeve shirt that I just love but haven't been able to wear because it was too tight on my arms, like to the point where I couldn't really move them and had to struggle to take it off.  I could button it but I looked like I was going to hulk out of it because there was so much behind the buttons.  I couldn't wear it unbuttoned because then I'd have my belly pudge poking out, which is just unattractive. So today, just for fun, I decided to try it on.  And it fit like it was supposed to.  Fit my arms perfect, buttoned with not problem, hung well when buttoned, and most importantly no belly pudge when left unbuttoned.  I didn't end up wearing the shirt because it was a little chilly out but it did feel good to add another article of clothing to my wear pile.

I have complete faith in myself at this point in the game.  I have my eyes on the prize and I know what I need to do.  I also plan on going halloween costume shopping sometime this week so we'll see if I can lose a few pounds before doing that.  I have a few costumes in mind.  It pretty much boils down to a Princess Leia costume or a Robin Costume lol.  Either way I'll be a nerd.

Tomorrow starts another beginning, hopefully the last beginning in my weight loss quest.  7 more pounds.  Wish me luck....

Day 21: Will never look at apples the same...

All Day Long: One kind of fruit is permitted and you have to chose one of the following (apples, pears, plums, apricots & guava) for two consecutive days in any quantity and at any time.

So 2nd and last day of just apples.  I am so hungry its not even funny lol. ok well I guess if I say lol then it is funny.  but seriously, I'm hungry.  An apple a day may keep the doctor away, but apples for 2 days....blahhhh I really hope I never have to do that again.  I think I might be going on an apple strike a long with my egg strike for a while lol.

Today was also my rest day from the gym. Back at it tomorrow.  Its really lame going to the gym without an ipod though.  ugh.  I just watch sportscenter when i'm on the treadmill or elliptical.  But then I have to suffer through commercials.  I would usually listen to my ipod and then plug my headphones in when there was a story or recap that I wanted to watch.  What really sucks is being in the sauna with no music to escape with.  Its just you laying in a hot ass room, thinking about how hot it is, and how long you've been in there. I need to find a solution and fast.  I'm dying without my ipod.

In other news, I weighed 163 this morning, so another 3 lbs down, bringing my total up to 16.  I am only 7 lbs off.  I have about 12 days left to lose the last 7.  I'm aiming for at least another 10 down by weigh ins.  I think I can do it. :)

Day 20: Good News on the Progress Channel

All Day Long: One kind of fruit is permitted and you have to chose one of the following (apples, pears, plums, apricots & guava) for two consecutive days in any quantity and at any time.

Let me just start off by saying that this day sucks donkey balls.  Only apples all day.  Don't get me wrong, I like apples...but all day? Not a fan.  I was so hungry.  It was literally like eating a bag of appley water.  I wish I had an apple tree right now so I could just keep eating them.  But they have to be fresh, granny smith, crisp, and have no bruises. But on to the real news.

We had a mock PRT at FEP today. Weigh in, pushups/sit-ups, and run.  So this morning I weighed 166, the same weight I've been for the past 4 days or so.  At PT, about 1:30, I weight 165.  You're usually at your lightest in the morning, so judging by that tomorrow I should weigh less.  Hopefully anyways.  So even though 165 is an accomplishment and the trainer noticed that I was considerabley less than last weigh in, it is still not withing standards so I had to be taped.  My last taping had me at 12.5 in neck, 33 in waist, and 45 in hips. And after navy calculations, comes to 42% body fat.  Today I measured at 13 in neck (he rounded up for me this time.), 30 in waist, and 44 in hips.  Totaling 36% body fat.  Standards for body fat for my height is max 32% so I'm still off, but only by 4% which translates into 4 in.  I'm still technically not within standards but I still have 2 weeks to get there, and the results are coming.  Dropping inches is harder for me than the weight so I was very very pleased to see some progress there.  And while I like my butt and don't want it to go away, I do want the remaining 4 inches to come off my hips.  And maybe 2 or 3 from my waist area.  I am getting closer and closer to my goal.  And while I would prefer not to have to be taped, it would be nice to know that in the event that the weigh-in didn't come up correctly that I'll be able to tape.  Or that even though I'm withing standards weight wise, by body fat percentage is where it should be too.

So after the gym I came home and showered.  So for shits and giggles, I weighed myself again, 164 this time.  I'm very anxious to see what my morning total will be.  After that I was feeling pretty good about myself, and needed to find something to wear to this interview tomorrow, so i decided to try on some of my dresses and jeans.  I usually experience a lot of anxiety and frustration when trying to find something to wear, but not today.  I was a bit nervous about the dresses though.  Because of their cuts and my size, whenever I would put them on they sort of looked like maternity dresses (post weight gain of course, I wouldn't have bought them if thats what they looked like at first lol).  They all fit soooo much better now! A few bunch up or puff out in the midsection but that is mainly due to my hips.  My stomach has gone down considerably from what I remember from a few months ago.  I should have taken pics but I was so disgusted with myself that I wouldn't have been able to take the pics, let alone keep them.  So what I did was put on one of the dresses and compare it to a pic someone had of my in it from my housewarming party, just to be sure that it looked different and better on me now than it did before (this was a dress I bought after the weight gain because i needed something to wear and nothing I had fit correctly). BIG BIG Difference. How it looks was most likely the way it was meant to fit.  It just didn't look at tight or constricting on me now.  So excited about that though.  Next came the jeans.  All of my jeans don't fit yet, but of the few from before that pulled up and buttoned up but were still a bit too tight to wear out, 2 of them now fit well enough to add back to my wardrobe.  A few jeans are getting close, and the rest aren't too far behind them.

I'm going to have to start doing some leg work either at home or at the gym.  I think that if I could just tighten up my thighs and ass, I'd be able to wear the jeans with no problems.  Still have a little ways to go until I meet my goal, but it is really rewarding and refreshing to be able to see and feel  the results.  Pat on the back for me. :)

Day 19: Think happy thoughts.

All Day Long: Grilled or boiled meat or chicken (no fat), any quantity and time with boiled or steamed veggies.

Today i was glad to be able to have a little variety.   I had some beef and some chicken with broccoli.  Still not too hungry but I still got to eat.  I haven't had a craving lately either which is pretty good.  I'm hoping to be able to keep that up.  The cravings are what kills me.  I hate thinking about food. Makes me feel fat.  But no delicious thoughts.  I'm still staying focused.  I have been at the same weight for about a week now which is a bit discouraging but I have to hope that one day soon I'll see a change.  Trying to remain positive is probably the hardest.  But I have a really good support system, which is important.

Sorry there isn't much to write today.  But there just isn't much to report.  I'm sort of in a mid-diet slump.  Tomorrow should be interesting though. Apples. All day. Only Apples. For 2 days. Can't wait to see how that goes...until then, good night America, well the people in America that actually read this anyways ;)

Day 18: Chicken of the sea, so is this chicken or tuna???

All Day Long: Grilled or boiled fish or shrimp, at any time, any quantity, with lettuce.

So today is the first day with meat in a while.  Feels like forever. And of course it has to be fish.  I don't like fish.  I'm not much of a seafood person. So my only option is tuna.  Its just about the only kind of seafood I'll eat. Whenever I eat salads I usually put a can of tuna in it so it wasn't like I was put out by having to eat the tuna with lettuce.  Its actually really good, you should try it.  Its a lot easier than a chicken salad because you have to cook the chicken first, you can use the tuna straight out of the can.

This was another day where I wasn't too hungry so i didn't get burnt out on eating tuna and lettuce all day. Still no change in weight to report, but i know it will come.

Day 17: Fat pants are still fat but the ass that goes in them isn't

All Day Long:  Any kind of previously mentioned fruits, boiled or steamed veggies, and green salad; any quantity and at any time.

I didn't really eat much today.  I just wasn't very hungry again.  Had 2 salads, some baby oranges, and some granny smiths.  I can't wait until I can have some sort of meat though! I am craving a giant steak right about now lol.

On a brighter, non food related note.  I have this pair of fat pants.  I got them at pacsun, and they were pretty much the only pair of pants there that day that would fit me.  They have holes in them (by design lol) and because they were fat pants the holes would get gradually bigger with each wear.  I needed to run to the store so I put them on.  And they were pretty big!  I used to not have any stretching room in the waist, and now when I pull on the waist, there is a good 2-3 inches between my belly and the band.  And the holes in the pants look like they are supposed to be there instead of looking like my legs are trying desperately to escape.  Its funny how you don't really realize how big you are until you aren't any more.  Its only a matter of time until I am back into my regular clothes and even buying smaller sizes.  Also, my zip up hoodies that I had to stop zipping up, zip up and fit almost as well as they did when I first bought them.  I am noticing a very positive change in my body.  And so are the people around me.  Especially at work.  I had to buy a Medium/Short uniform because the Small/Short I originally had just didn't fit appropriately any more.  I didn't want to be that chick walking around in a too small uniform and refusing to admit that I need a bigger size.  But now, the medium has much more space than it once did.  I haven't attempted to try the small back on, but maybe I will in the next few days.  Its one thing to lose weight, but the real test comes when you try on the old clothes and are able to fit in them again.

I've been feeling a lot better about myself lately and that is a pretty big thing for me. At my previous weight of 155 I wasn't completely comfortable because I felt like I still needed to be smaller, but now I have a new found appreciation for the size I was.  Gaining all this weight and going through everything I've been through really put a lot of things into perspective for me.  I realize that many of the body issues I've had for so long were just ridiculous, and once I reach my goal, I'm almost positive I won't have to deal with those again.

I did this when I first started this blog, but I feel the need to do this again.  I would really like to thank my friends and family for all of their support and encouraging words.  I have a lot of pride and don't often ask for help, but this has been very emotionally and physically trying and I know I wouldn't have been able to go through any of this alone.

Day 16: Veggie Tales

All Day Long: Any kind of boiled of steamed veggies, and any kind of green salad, any quantity and time

Today was veggie day.  So much better than fruit day. I had broccoli, green beans, corn, lettuce, and cucumbers.  Doesn't seem like much but ever since I started this diet I've been getting fuller faster so it still kept me full without constantly being hungry.  And I love broccoli.

I also went to the gym today.  No elliptical though.  There were some new fancy looking treadmills in the gym so i decided to play with it.  It was pretty friggen sweet.  Color touchscreen, virtual trainer, scenery, ipod station, and more.  So I just walked at a 6% incline for a 20 minutes.  A lot of people feel like they need to run to burn calories but really you can lose more by walking.  Its all about your target heart rate and staying in your zone.  And that incline is no joke.  After the walk, I went in the sauna for about 30 minutes.  Total bummer though because I didn't have my ipod to relax me.  I still can't believe I washed it :(

Tomorrow is fruits and veggies day.  We'll see how that goes.

Day 15: Today is a Fruit-a-thon

All Day Long: Any kind of fruits, any quantity and time (excluding grapes, mango, dates, bananas and figs)

Fruit, fruit, and more fruit.  I ate about 10 baby oranges today. They taste so much better than those Chilean oranges I had before.  And they are sooooo adorable!! I do sort of feel like a murderer when I eat them though.  Like they didn't live very much of their little orange lives before I came along and ended it all.  Ooooh well..I guess if those little guys were in a similar situation they would eat us too.  I had some peaches too but they weren't as good as the kind that come in the little cups wit the juice and stuff.  Can't eat those though, because of all the added sugar and other things.

I honestly think this is the most self control I've exercised in like forever...especially when it comes to food.  I LOVE FOOD. It is so so so soooo hard to resist all the foods I love and miss. But i'm almost at my goal, and almost at the end of the diet.  That's not to say I'm done with the weight loss journey altogether.  I'll still eat the foods I want, but I will be careful to monitor what I'm putting in my body, portions, and how often I eat.  I know there's a way to maintain after I reach my goal without having to give up everything.

There isn't much to write about today since I didn't really eat much.  Glad the fruit-a-thon is over though.  It wasn't as fun as I thought it would be.  I'm up to 14 pounds total now.  12 more to go. Getting closer.

Day 14: Over the hump....

Breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs, 1/2 orange
Lunch: Grilled or boiled chicken, tomato, and one orange or grapefruit
Dinner: Grilled or boiled chicken, tomato, and one orange or grapefruit

Well I got a late start this morning so making eggs for breakfast was just out of the question.  I was going to take the beHOT pills this morning but it said to take with food so I had to hold off until lunch time since I didn't eat breakfast.  My "breakfast" was a bottle of water with 1mL of liquid b-12.  It was so gross. It seriously took me 4 hours to drink it.  It was supposedly cherry flavored but it tasted like chewable cherry mylanta tablets.  ugh.  I think tomorrow morning I'm just going to take the shot of b-12 directly out of the dropper and just chase it with water instead of torturing myself again like I did today.  blahhhh. Lunch was delish though.  Can't go wrong with grilled chicken.  Forgot to eat my orange again. Not too broken up about it.

I'm not sure if it was the pills or if I was just super hyper but I just felt like swinging from trees today.  I'm also happy to report that I didn't take a nap today!!! Pretty proud of myself.  I didn't make it to the gym though. I had some cupcakes to make.  More torture in the kitchen.  My whole apartment smelled like pumpkin spice cupcakes and I can't have any of them! sad face. I did handle myself really well though, despite the looming temptation to sample.

I am officially at the end of the first 3 weeks, and I have arrived at the halfway point.  Tomorrow should be pretty great though, fruit all day, but any combo and anytime.  I like fruit.  Gross story though, I went to Farm Fresh to pick up some different fruits so I didn't end up eating oranges or watermelon all day.  I really wanted some granny smith apples but the apples were just gross looking.  They were all bruised and ugly.  So I decided to get some baby oranges.  I grabbed some peaches and grabbed a bag of baby oranges.  I put the oranges on the conveyor belt thingy, and what do I see?  3 baby oranges squishy and gross, 1 even had mold on it.  Ew.  I expected higher standards of fruit from Farm Fresh.  So disappointed. I'm on produce strike from Farm Fresh.

Still no weight change but all isn't lost.  When my body is ready to drop some more poundage, it will.  Can't rush these things.  Hopefully it happens before Halloween, I want to lose weight so I can look awesome in a respectable slutty costume ;)

Day 13: More of the same, same food, same weight, same measurements...

Breakfast: 2 eggs, 1/2 orange
Lunch: Grilled meat, tomato, one orange or grapefruit
Dinner: 2 boiled eggs

So this morning there was no weight loss. So business as usual.  I continued my egg strike through breakfast.  I did eat the half orange though.  I'm not sure whats going on with the oranges I bought but they really aren't that good. I'm  probably going to go but some different oranges.  I really wish they sold Florida oranges here. they are the best. These oranges are from some damn where in Chile.  Lame.  For lunch I ate a steak I made last night. It was medium rare, just the way I like it, then I stuck it in the microwave to warm it up and when it came out it was well done.  :(  I got a stomach ate from the steak too.  The marinade I used had oil, so I think it was the oil that gave me the stomach ache.  I haven't had any food with oil since I started this diet.  Won't be doing that again. I brought a grapefruit for lunch but I forgot to eat it.  I don't think I've ever actually eaten a grapefruit so I wanted to try one to see if I like them.  But i missed my chance.  Maybe tomorrow.  For dinner, I ended my egg strike.  It wasn't so bad, especially after the break.  Much needed break.  So I'm back on eggs.  Hopefully I won't get crazy sick of them again.

I went to GNC today and got some liquid b-12.  You're supposed to add 1 mL to water and drink it.  Then it gives you the energy needed for the day, and it boosts your metabolism.  I'm going to try it tomorrow.  I didn't decide on a multi-vitamin.  But I have some One A Day Vitamins, and another all Natural Multi-Vitamin Paks.  The only downside to the vitamin pak is that there are like 10 pills in it.  10 pills that I have to swallow.  It's just kind of a bummer having to take that many pills.  GNC also has a new line of dietary supplement paks called GNC WELLbeING.  I got the one called be-HOT.  Its a combination of 3 types of pills from the collection. be-DEFINED for toning and sculpting.  be-ENERGIZED calorie burning formula that helps boost metabolism and helps burn 3 times more calories before working out and 12 times more after, it also contains antioxidants. be-ENHANCED is a diet supporting CLA, it supports metabolism, provides a healthy source of energy, and enhances diet. The chick at the store highly recommended it. She's into body sculpting and is a personal trainer.  She also recommended another diet choice called the clean diet.  I might check it out a little bit down the road.  She said she's used the pills and really liked them. I suppose it won't hurt to try.  Comes with 30 packs so I'll be starting them tomorrow with the b-12.

Today at the gym we had a mock prt.  Talk about a total downer.  I had to get measured and somehow despite all I've been doing I am measure the exact same as I did before the diet.  There is no way.  First of all, the dude measured me over my clothes.  Big no no. The clothes add inches, you can't get an accurate read.  Then once I got back in the locker room, some of the other girls and I were comparing measurements.  We are all different shapes and sizes yet we all came out with the same measurements and the same body fat percent.  How is that even possible.  I refuse to believe that I haven't gone down at all percentage wise.  I told the guy to take all the measurements he wants, I don't plan on having to be measured come prt time.  I will make weight and I will be done with all this crap.  So he can take his bogus measurements and shove them right back up the asshole that shit out these ridiculous standards.  I am about 12 pounds from the maximum allowable weight for my height.  As long as I can make it past that by Oct 26th, I'm good.  I still have plenty of time, and I'm getting closer to my goals everyday.  I can't wait to put all of this behind me and be able to move on with my life without having this sort of stress looming over me.

Day 12: Its nice when other people notice too.

Breakfast: 2 scramled eggs, 1/2 orange
Lunch: Grilled or boiled fish or shrimp
Dinner: 2 boiled eggs and one orange or grapefruit

I'm on a temporary egg strike at the moment.  I know I'm supposed to be eating them, but I'm so sick of eggs at this point that I just can't.  I'll resume eating eggs tomorrow at dinner but I just needed a break.  For lunch, since I'm not a big seafood fan, I had some lemon pepper tuna fish.  That's about as fishy as I can go.  I went to the gym today.  20 minutes on the elliptical and 30 in the sauna.  The sauna is really relaxing.  I like just laying in there listening to music. It doesn't really feel crazy hot until I get up and walk back into the locker room.  Feeling the temp difference is what makes you feel hot and sweaty.  I'm going again tomorrow after work.  I had some cucumbers after the gym to keep my metabolism going and because I knew I wasn't going to eat the eggs for dinner.  So I had the orange and a bite or 2 of the steak I grilled for lunch tomorrow.  Just had to make sure it was cooked properly ;) lol.

Overall today was a good day.  I've been seeing results for myself, but other have been noticing as well.  Its very satisfying to hear the same people who questioned the weight gain notice the weight loss. I didn't lose any pounds between today and yesterday but i did lose 2 inches of my waist and 2 off my hips.

I've been thinking about getting a body wrap.  Says its supposed to take anywhere from 6-20 inches total off you during the first visit.  They take your measurements, rub some solution on you, wrap you up tight, and you lay there for about an hour. Essentially it puts your body through a detox, dispelling toxins and fat, and stimulating your metabolism.  Its only temporary but when used with diet and exercise its easy to maintain.  If you go get it then just keep on doing whatever you were doing then of course you'll balloon back out.  I found a place pretty close to me that does them for $129.  I have to seriously think about that because that's a lot of money.  Going to do a little more research about it first though.

Tomorrow I'm going to GNC to get some B-12 pills.  I'm probably not going to be able to get B-12 shots, but in the meantime the pills so work to give me the energy to do the work outs.  I might pick up a detox as well. Probably not though, I'm not a big fan of bubble guts and feeling like crap.  I am in the market for a multi-vitamin though.  I'll see if I can find anything good.

So I end my day on a good note.  Feeling pretty great right about now.  Looking forward to losing these pounds and reaching my goal.  I'm pretty proud of myself for actually committing to a diet and going to the gym.  I've always been more of a complainer than a doer when it comes to matter or weight and body image.  It's about time a lit a fire under my butt and did something about it. :)

Day 11: Great Day!!!!

Breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs, 1/2 orange
Lunch: 2 scrambled eggs, one table spoon of fat free cheese, and boiled or steamed veggies
Dinner: 2 scrambled eggs and boiled or steamed veggies

Today I slept in until about 11, so I got a late start on everything.  Despite the late start I woke up to stunning results. I weighed myself and found that I lost 4 more pounds! So I'm at 13 pounds so far!  I'm not sure how I lost 4 pounds in a day, but I did.  I'm really happy about it. Finally progress.

So today is Sunday, and that means football!!! I had to go to the store and get a few groceries before being glued to the tv all day.  I didn't actually eat "breakfast" until about 1:30 pm.  I didn't eat much of it because I just wasn't feel all too great.  Girly time, ya know? :( I didn't get hungry again until about 6:30pm so I skipped lunch and just had dinner. I'm just a little egg'd out right about now so for dinner I skipped the eggs and just had some fresh cooked green beans. They were delicious.

I've been drinking a lot more water too.  I've just been getting so thirsty.  I think I had like 6 bottles of water yesterday, and I'm at like 4 or 5 so far today.  It used to take me almost all day to drink 1 bottle of water.  I guess now since I have no other option its a bit easier to drink more water.  So maybe drinking more water will help accelerate the weight loss.  I'm also going to be going into the sauna a lot more and need to make sure I'm hydrated.

I'm starting to notice changes in my body too.  Fat pants feel a little fatter, and pants that I couldn't pull up a few weeks ago pull up, pants I couldn't button up a few weeks ago button up. Can't wait until all my old clothes fit the way they used to. Once that happens I'm rewarding myself with new clothes!!

Day 10: Dieting on Duty

Breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs
Lunch: Grilled meat, Cucumbers
Dinner: 2 scrambled eggs and one orange

I'm posting this on Sunday since I was stuck on duty on Saturday but I'm still going to talk as if I was posting this on the day it happened.  For those of you that don't know what duty is...Basically I was at work for 24 hours. From 7am on Saturday until 7am on Sunday.  I have to eat there, shower there, and eat there.  So this meant I have to prepare all my meals ahead of time and bring them with me since I don't have a kitchen there, and ordering take out was not an option.

I don't know what it was about my eggs this morning, but they were friggen delicious.  I think I was just starving lol. Plain 'ol scrambled eggs are so not delicious.  I brought a whole orange to work again, and was nice, and shared :) I was actually really busy at work today. Just a lot of stuff to organize and people who needed help.  I also watched the Noles whoop up on UVA. For lunch I had some grilled hamburger patties and some cucumbers with Cesar dressing. I got full about half way through the cucumbers.  Guess its a good thing that I'm getting full faster.  Just means my body has gotten used to not taking in as much food.  When it came time for dinner I only ate the orange.  I just wasn't sure how I'd like scrambled eggs reheated at 8 pm when I made them at 5:30 in the morning.  So I passed.  I ended up getting to go home early too.  My chief let me go at 10 instead of making me stay all night.  Great for me because I never get a good night's sleep there anyways.

So overall I'd say I was successful in sticking to my diet while on duty.  Even when a friend of mine offered me a homemade empanada that smelled oh so delicious.  And when I had to see everyone walking around with pizza boxes and chinese take out.  I did however have a few peanut m&ms.  Don't even feel bad about it. My mom told me that the best thing to do when you're dieting and you get a craving is to just let yourself have it.  Don't over indulge of course, but once you satisfy your craving, you can move on.  But it's partly to keep your sanity. In a way is was like motivation for me, because I know that once I reach my goal I can have the foods I want again. 18 more days until I can!

Day 9: Feelin fine.

Breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs, 1/2 orange
Lunch: Grilled meat, Green Salad
Dinner: 2 boiled eggs and one orange or grapefruit

I really like rhyming lol. :) Well I got to start yet another day with eggs.  Wasn't so bad though.  I think my taste buds are actually becoming immune to the taste of eggs.  I brought a whole orange into work and shared half with someone else.  Sharing is caring after all. I was pretty siked to eat something else besides eggs and oranges today though.  I couldn't wait for lunch.  I bought one of those awesome salad shaker Tupperware bowls with a dressing cup/dispenser and an ice pack.  Grilled chicken marinated in Cesar Dressing and Salad.  Delish. (and not to mention fun. i really like shaking it up lol)

I was able to make it to the gym today.  I did about 15 minutes on the elliptical and then I put on my sweats and went in the sauna.  I don't know exactly how long I was in there.  I think it was like 30-45 minutes.  I may have taken a nap.  But it was really relaxing.  Crazy hot, but relaxing.

I am also happy to report that I made 4 layers of cake, and did not like the bowl or batter. :)  I did taste a little bit of the strawberry icing i made.  Only because it was a new recipe and I needed to be sure it tasted good.  But i didn't eat enough of it to set me back any. Just enough to get a general taste of the batch.  Delicious by the way.

Oh yeah and I lost another pound this morning.  So 9 down so far.  About 20 to go.   Making pretty good progress. I have duty tomorrow so I'll be there alllllllll day and still have to stick to the diet.  I'm sure I can do it.  I won't be able to post my day 10 until sunday morning though so you'll all just have to wait. sorry...I hope you won't miss me too much!

Day 8: No longer egg-cited about eggs...

Breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs, 1/2 orange
Lunch: 2 scrambled eggs and one orange or grapefruit
Dinner: 2 scrambled eggs and one orange or grapefruit

So today was a friggen egg-a-thon.  I can't even put into words how insanely over eggs I am.  It probably wouldn't be so bad if I could have them the way I want them.  Butter in the pan, scrambled with milk, add cheese, maybe some ham or bacon.  That would be amazing. But nooooo, my choices are hard boiled or scrambled with absolutely nothing. blahhhh.  I'm pretty sure that after this I will be done with eggs for a while.

Pretty self explanatory, eggs and oranges for breakfast lunch and dinner. Total bummer.  Still haven't seen any weight loss.  Few days with no results.  That's pretty much a bummer too.  This was actually gratifying the first week when I was actually losing weight.  But I guess that was water weight.  My goal Monday is to start going to the gym at least 2 times a day.  I have to work up to being able to wake up at 4 am every morning.  And if I start going to the gym instead of taking naps maybe I'll actually be tired enough to go to sleep at an appropriate hour.  We shall see.

I just can't wait to eat REAL FOOD again.  I think I might be slowly going insane, with the sudden lack of carbs, sugar, coffee, milk and fatty foods.  I am desperately clinging to what little sanity I have left.  The real test comes tomorrow.  I have to make a cake and icing and not lick the bowl, or taste test the icing. :( torture.

Oh well, C'est La Vie...

Day 7: Longest. Week. Ever.

Breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs, 1/2 orange
Lunch: Grilled or boiled chicken, boiled or steamed vegetables, and one orange or grapefruit
Dinner: Boiled or steamed vegetable

So I am happy to report that I am feeling much better today.  Still a bit of congestion, but a giant step up from the way I've been feeling the last few days.  Anyways, scrambled eggs again.  So sick of eggs.  But I have to eat them.  I didn't feel like peeling an orange this morning so I skipped the orange portion of my breakfast.  I've so been missing my morning coffee.  Thanks to the many rules of this diet, I can't have my usual Grande Caramel White Chocolate Mocha. :( Only black coffee with sweetener.  Ew.  So i attempted to drink black coffee. Never again. So bitter and gross. Ew again.  I will be hanging that up for a while.  Counting down the days until I can go to Starbucks again!!!

Lunch was pretty good.  I had grilled chicken and peas.  Peas are def not my veggie of choice, but they aren't the worst veggie out there.  I was supposed to eat an orange for lunch but I totally forgot I had it in my bag.  I also went to the gym today!  Didn't do much though.  15 minutes on the elliptical, and an amount of time in the sauna that can only be described as about a gallon and a half of sweat.  Despite the heat, it was sort of relaxing.

For dinner, I decided to make green beans instead of heating some up.  I bought some fresh green beans, cleaned then, cut them, and boiled them with onions and spices.  For my first time making them, they were really good.  I'm pretty proud of myself.

Tomorrow will be interesting, eggs and oranges for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  blahhhhhhh. One good thing is that I get to go into work an hour late tomorrow.  Its been raining all day.  And in true Virginia fashion, they over react and give us time off.  I'm not complaining about the time off, its just funny to me. So thanks to the time delay, I might be able to go to the gym in the morning before work.  No promises though, I can't guarantee that I'll be able to wake up.  But its a goal. lol

Day 6: How many corpsman does it take to start an IV???

Breakfast: 1 scrambled egg, 1/2 orange
Lunch: One kind of fruit, mentioned previously, in any quantity
Dinner: Grilled meat, Green Salad

So I woke up a little more sick today. So I had to go to medical. On top of all the sinus congestion and yuckies, I had the tummy rumbles, nausea, and I was dehydrated.  So the doc says I need an IV.  The 2nd class tells me to lay down and she starts looking for a vein.  She stuck me, and missed.  Looked around more, checked my hand, my other arm, my other hand. So another corpsman comes over.  I ask if he would like to try to find a vein.  She i have 2 corpsman now.  3 corpsman later, still no vein.  The first class comes and is wondering why i have 3 corpsman rubbing my arm.  I say, "well i do have really soft skin, do you want to come rub my arm too?" He laughed.  I now have 5 corpsman standing over me, each trying to find a vein.  So, to lighten the mood, I say, "sometimes I forget my veins at home..." They thought that was funny.  So 5 corpsman and 3 botched attempts later, we just called it quits.  I've never had that much trouble with anyone trying to find a vein before.  So I left medical, and went home to rest.  Just thought I'd share that fun little story with you all.

I managed to be able to keep breakfast down.  I had watermelon for lunch.  Delicious by the way.  I really like my fruit lunch days.  For dinner I had a steak and salad.  That was pretty great too.  Jack Daniel's Teriyaki Marinade is delicious.  Everyone should try it.  I'm pretty much a grill master.

I wish I had more to report, but that's about all I have.  Hopefully tomorrow will be more eventful.

Day 5: No Soup For You!

Breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs (nothing added), 1/2 orange
Lunch: 2 boiled eggs, boiled vegetables (zucchini, squash, spinach, carrots, green beans, or peas)
Dinner: Fish or shrimp (grilled) or 1 can of tuna

Day 5 hasn't been the best day.  I still managed to follow my diet but I am very sick.  I was up all night with congestion, runny nose, itchy eyes, and a nasty cough.  As soon as I got into work, they turned me back around and sent me home to rest.  I'm feeling a little bit better but not much.  I have DayQuil and NyQuil, hopefully they help.  Its so hard to be sick and not be able to have any soup.  I'm such a baby when I'm sick like this and soup is my food of choice.  I feel like this diet is like the soup nazi, no soup for you lol. I'll survive without it though, I think....

Back to DietQuest 2K10...Breakfast was ok, getting sort of tired of eggs but I'm dealing.  Its a lot better now that I switched to scrambled eggs. 1/2 orange, still delish.  I have been drinking more water lately which is good, especially since I barely ever drink water.  Lunch was weird.  I had 2 scrambled eggs, and some green beans.  I love green beans.  But eggs and green beans is just a weird combo.  I had some cucumbers for an in between snack.  I really love cucumbers.

Being sick kind of makes me lose my appetite, but I knew I needed to eat dinner anyways.  I chose tuna instead.  I had the StarKist Lemon Pepper tuna packet.  Its actually really good.  I wish I was able to eat more.

I've had a bit of a sweet tooth lately. Just craving candy.  I know I can't have the candy because of the sugar.  So in order to satisfy that craving, I picked up some sugar free Werther's Originals Candies.  So good. I can't even tell they're sugar free. They shouldn't do any harm to the diet, because there is no added sugar. I just needed something to fill that void. If you haven't had a Werther's in a while, go buy some.  They are so good.  Its been forever since I had one, I forgot how delicious they were.  Oh and addicting, I can't stop eating them.  And who says sugar free candy is gross. I always wondered why old people have these. lol best kept secret in the history of candy.

More weight loss news to report as well.  My counter is up to 6 lbs as of this morning. So 6 down 24 to go.  At this pace, I'd say it's totally doable. Thanks for the  continued support everyone, it really means a lot to know that I have people that are in my corner and believe in me.  I'm starting to feel a little better about myself.  Hopefully I'll start to actaully see some results soon. (for example, be able to fit into clothes I haven't been able to wear in a while).
Going to take some NyQuil and hopefully have a better night than last night, and hoping to wake up with more weight lost.  :)

Day 4: Eggcellent Day

Breakfast: 1/2 orange, 2 scrambled eggs (no added oil or butter)
Lunch: One kind of fruit, mentioned previously, in any quantity
Dinner: Grilled meat, Green Salad

So you'll notice that my breakfast lineup changed a bit.   Still with the 1/2 orange, 1/2 orange still delicious.  I've been going back and forth on whether or not there is actually any sort of difference between scrambled and hard boiled eggs.  Every where I've looked said an egg is an egg is an egg.  The difference usually comes from adding butter or oil to the pan, and mixing in milk to make the eggs fluffy.  Thanks to Rachael Ray and whatever it is that makes her cookware so amazing, I was able to make scrambled egg without adding anything and without my eggs sticking to the pan.  Don't get me wrong, they still weren't as delicious as they could have been with milk and butter, but they are a huge step up from hard boiled eggs.

For lunch I decided to go with Ganny Smith apples.  I had 2 apples with fat free caramel dip.  I figured that would be no different than just adding salad dressing to my veggies when I at them.  The dip was surprisingly low in sugar and didn't have a crazy amount of calories either. I didn't have a between meal snack today.  I just wasn't feeling very hungry.  So thats a pretty good thing in my eyes.  I'm also starting to get sick.  A mixture of fall allergies and the flu shot I got a few days ago.  My body is also still adjusting to the change in my diet.  So I pretty much expected to get sick.  Hopefully I get rid of this pretty quickly.   I'm counting on the gym to help sweat it out.

Dinner was pretty good too.  I found some  thin cut top round at the commissary.  It had the least amount of fat of all the other cuts.  I marinated it in some Mrs.Dash Lemon Pepper marinade and threw it on the George Foreman Grill.  I made a small salad with cucumbers and tossed the beef in there.  Had a Steak Cesar Salad.  Pretty Good.  I'm still not feeling well so I probably won't be eating anything else tonight.

I weighed myself this morning, and I'm down another pound.  Bringing my total up to 5 lbs.  So far, so good.  Let's hope I can keep it up.  :)

Day 3: Here's to hoping a tomato doesn't ruin everything...

Breakfast: 1 boiled egg, 1/2 orange
Lunch: One tablespoon of fat free cream cheese, one slice of toast and tomato
Dinner: Grilled meat, Green Salad

Day 3. Another egg...ugh. Today I tried a different approach.  I peeled it, mashed it up into little bits, added some salt, pepper, and hot sauce.  Yeah, didn't help. It was still a hard boiled egg. I'm wondering if i can just scramble the egg and if would be the same thing.  Like if i didn't add anything to it.  I could use calorie-free cooking spray, or no spray at all. I have Rachael Ray pots and pans, they're non stick so i wouldn't even need the spray.  The question is, is there actually any sort of difference in nutritional value between a hard boiled egg and a scrambled egg?  And if there is absolutely no way to get out of eating a hard boiled eggs, is there a better way to do it? A way to make them easier to stomach and less painful to eat??

Lunch was pretty painful too.  Siked for the toast again, not so so much the cream cheese.  I'm not what it is about cream cheese that I just don't like.  I can eat cream cheese frosting but not plain cream cheese.   It was only a tablespoon of cream cheese so i just ate it super fast. I didn't eat the tomato though. That was just something i wouldn't be able to just eat.  I made the compromise with the hard boiled egg and cream cheese, but I can't eat tomatoes.  Those of you who read my facebook status you'll know that I've dedicated many a status to my frustration with fast food restaurants forgetting to take off the tomato I specifically asked to be removed. I pick it off myself and then my chicken sandwich or burger still tastes like tomato. Ew. So hopefully I didn't ruin everything by skipping the tomato.  I mean if a tomato does ruin it all, then this diet blows and maybe the creator needs to reconfigure a few things.

My 12 year old cousin was in town today, and is staying the night at my house.  I had dinner a bit early so that she would be able to eat real food.  We went to Applebees. She got the delicious smelling fajitas, and I had a grilled chicken cesar salad; no croutons, no cheese, added cucumbers.  Still stayed true to the diet, even with the dessert menu staring directly into my soul.... Luckily for me, having a 12 yr old in the house, I got rid of some of my tempting snacks.  Then she bought a giant bag of swedish fish that I can't eat :( jerk. lol

But i digress.  I'd say day 3 went pretty well.  I was able to go to the gym today, for about an hour.  pretty proud of myself.  day 4's challenge comes with sunday football marathon and no beer or wings :( sad face.  so hopefully everyone will have have a beer and a wing or two for me.

Friday, September 24, 2010

Day 2: It's pretty sad when you're excited for a piece of toast...

Breakfast: 1 boiled egg, 1/2 orange
Lunch: Grilled or boiled chicken, no skin
Dinner: 2 boiled eggs, Green Salad, One slice of toast, 1 orange or grapefruit

Day 2, not as bad as day 1, but not a good as it could be.  I took a friends egg advice and put it in the fridge in some salt water.  It made it a bit more tolerable, but it was still an egg.   Made it through about 3/4 of the egg before i spit it out. Baby steps.  Still loving the 1/2 orange.  :)

Snack time was at about 10 am, had some carrots.  I love carrots.  I don't know what it is about them though, they make my throat itch.  Tre' Bizarre. Still ate them.  Today was one of my PT days so i had to make sure I ate before going to the gym.  So last night I marinated a chicken breast in my cesar dressing (Ken's Lite Cesar dressing...delish) and tossed it on the Foreman Grill.  Wish I could have had some veggies with it, but just chicken for lunch was better than just fruit. The gym today was pretty great.  Elliptical for 30 minutes, walked on the treadmill for about 20, then sat in the sauna for like 10 minutes.  Next time I go in the sauna I'll make sure not to bring my water bottle in or wear my glasses lol.  I thought i was going to burn my eyelids off.  Lesson learned. In order to indulge my metabolism, I had a cucumber and dressing when i got home.

So dinner was pretty exciting.  Had to eat another egg, but i got to put it in a salad so I got to cover it up with lettuce and dressing.   The best part of dinner was being able to have a piece of toast. lol I never thought I'd be so havppy to eat a piece of bread.  Last thing on the dinner menu is an orange.  Haven't eaten that yet, but I should have no problems.

I just got some Diurex too to try to get rid of any water weight I might have. Starting that tomorrow morning.  Good news is that I'm down 3 pounds since the beginning of the week.  Progress.  Day 3 tomorrow, going to try to get up in the morning to go to the gym. So far so good, wish me luck.

Day One: Trying Not to Put the "Die" in Diet...

Day 1
Breakfast: 1 boiled egg, 1/2 orange
Lunch: One kind of fruit, as much as you want (orange, strawberries, pears, apples, plums, cantaloupe, watermelon)
Dinner: Grilled meat, completely fat free.

So day 1 is in the bag.  Didn't start off so great though.  Apparently I'm not very good at boiling eggs. I didn't know that there was a time limit...i definitely left the eggs on the stove for about 30 minutes, drained the water, filled the pot with cold water, and then went to bed. In the morning I  just grabbed the egg, peeled it, and tried to eat it. I'm thinking this was a bad idea. Why didn't anybody tell me?!? First of all, I just don't like hard boiled eggs.  I can eat deviled eggs, but that's totally different; there is mayo, mustard, relish and stuff mixed in. But just a  plain hard boiled egg, gross.  So I ended up eating half, and spitting the other half out into the trash.  I'm hoping I'll have better luck tomorrow because hard boiled eggs are on the menu. blahhh.  On a lighter note, I handled the 1/2 orange like a champ :)

Today was also day 1 of no coffee...yeah I wasn't loving that part.  I was Grumpy McGrumperson all morning.  I eventually got over it but I really did miss my morning grande caramel white chocolate mocha.  counting down the days until i can have another one.

In between breakfast and lunch I was allowed to have a veggie. I chose a cucumber.  Delish.  2 hours later was lunch time.  I bought the cutest little watermelon.  I was super small and oh so yummy.  I had a problem though.  We had a farewell luncheon for one of the guys I work with.  Big problem was that I didn't want to go and not eat because all I was allowed to eat for lunch was watermelon, and who the heck wants sit around and watch everyone else eat. Luckily for me the menu said I was allowed grilled meat for dinner.  So I decided to eat dinner early.  The waitress asks what I want to eat, my reply...just a steak, medium rare. No veggies or mashed potatoes? Nope, just a steak. Are you sure, the veggies are steamed? Yeah no, just the steak thanks. Reminded me of Dane Cook, just the cheese.  I said that after and she was like you want cheese too? lol No sorry it was Dane Cook, just a steak thanks.   Steak comes out with onion rings on top.... apparently "just the steak" meant I wanted that on top.  The steak was pretty good, ate it slow since that was all I was going to be able to eat. Wasn't able to eat the fat part though, totally the best part. :( boo.

Overall, I'd say Day 1 was a success.  I know it will get harder. But for now it isn't that bad.  This weekend I'm going to work on hiding my snacks.  There's a bag of cheese doodles sitting on the table in front of me right now and it is taunting me.  Damn you baked cheese flavored corn snacks.  Damn you to cheese doodle hell!

Hopefully I'll be able to handle the hard boiled eggs better tomorrow. I'm supposed to eat 3 of them :( so not looking forward to that.  Day 2 starts bright and early....stay tuned.

A diet today to keep big navy away...

So I am starting a diet tomorrow.  Its pretty strict but I have to do this to be able to move on from this awful funk I've been in.  I have about a month to be withing standards.  The last thing I need is a second PRT failure looming over my head.

This diet comes with a lot of rules and restrictions but if I do everything right, its supposed to make me lose 40-60 pounds.  I don't actually need to lose that much, but figuring that everyone's body isn't the same I doubt I'll produce those sort of results.  I'm hoping for a 30 lb loss. This diet does not rely on calories, but the vital chemical interactions in the body.  So, back to these rules...First, drink plenty of water. Ugh, I hate water. I mean I guess its refreshing but I always have to make myself drink it.  I can only have steamed or boiled veggies. When cooking, I can't use butters or oils, but spices and seasonings are ok.  I can have tea and coffee at any time, but no sugar.  I'm opting to cut out coffee altogether during this diet.  Black coffee is disgusting anyways, and I'm not a fan of tea. I'm allowed diet soda, but I think I'll pass on that as well.  In between meals I can have cucumbers, lettuce, or carrots. But only 2 hours after a main meal and only one kind of veggie. I have to follow this strictly, and if I miss one day i have to start over.

END OF DIET!!!

I guess its a gamble, just as every diet is.  But its worth a try.  It going to be very hard work, but I think I'm up for the challenge. I'm going to try to update this blog with my progress every day.  I'll be able to vent my frustrations and inevitable hunger.

Day 1 starts tomorrow. Wish me luck!!!!
